If you are adult in America today, there is a high probability that you are overweight. While the definition of being overweight varies from person to person, you’d probably like to lose a few pounds.

Many people know, at least one some level, that in order to lose weight, it helps to eat less, and exercise more. When you combine these two, you can easily lose weight.

Eating less seems simple enough. Eat less bad foods, like fried foods, fast foods, foods filled with sugar and fat. And eat more good foods, like grains, vegetables, and lean meat.

Exercise is where many people get confused. Many people, especially women, that want to lose weight automatically assume that cardiovascular exercises are better. Many shun strength training for fear of building big, bulky muscles.

Nothing could be further from the truth. First of all, it is much harder for women to get big muscles than it is for men. We can thank mother nature for that.

The main benefit of strength training is that it increases your lean muscle mass, which in turn increases your resting metabolism. This means you burn more calories while you are just sitting around. I don’t know about you, but that sounds pretty good to me.

So how do you get lean muscle mass? Easy. Do exercises that involve Low weight, and high reps. And try to target large muscle groups, rather than isolating small ones.

A great way to do this is through body weight exercises. One of the best way to do this is through yoga. Other ways are push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups. You’ll be amazed how quickly doing these exercises will increase your metabolism.

Putting together a sensible diet with a lean muscle mass building exercise regime will do wonders for your physique, your self-confidence, and the attention you get from the opposite sex.

Most adults today are overweight. And almost every one of us is always on the lookout for the next super diet that will once and for all help us to finally shed the pounds.

More and more of us are having problem with weight, and there seems to be a correlation to the number of methods to lose it. Although most of them are pretty good in helping you to lose weight, they can be complicated to understand, and difficult to follow.

Here I’d like to help you with a couple quick rules of thumb on how to eat the right kinds of food. When you eat he right kinds of fats and carbohydrates, you will go a long way in naturally slimming down.

The biggest enemy to any weight loss plan is the wrong carbohydrates. Sure, you can eliminate the altogether, as many diets recommend. Several studies are starting to show that these can be effective, at least in the short term.

Not all carbs are bad. How do you know? Usually it’s a good idea to avoid anything processed. To do this simply choose brown whenever possible.

When choosing pasta, bread or rice, brown is usually better. The whiter a carbohydrate is, generally speaking, the more your body will treat it just like sugar. Of course, brown chocolate is just as bad as white chocolate!

When choosing fats, choose solid, natural fats. Fats found in vegetables such as avocado’s are good. Fats found in a bottle of oil are bad. Fats found in fish is good, fats found in french fries are bad. Just ask yourself, did this grow this way? If it did, then it’s ok. If it didn’t, and it was processed somehow try and avoid it.

While these rules are only a rough guide, they can go a long way in helping you choose the right foods, which can support a healthy body and lifestyle.
